Run the installer by typing install at the prompt, and press Enter a few times to get the ball rolling. Navigate to the game installation directory using the cd command if you’ve followed our guide so far, typing cd Duke3D at the prompt should get you to the appropriate directory. Ignore the background window (it’s just a status display) and take a moment to familiarize yourself with your old friend, the DOS command prompt. Boot up DOSBox, and a pair of windows will pop up. It's unclear whether 3D Realms intended to pay Buffer for this appearance or if the clip was taken from another game or film by the developers as a production placeholder.Now that you’ve cranked your machine down to Pentium 1 standards, it’s time to start gaming. In one example of recorded dialogue, famed '90s and '00s ringside announcer Michael Buffer shouts his signature "Let's get ready to rumble" line before waves of enemies emerge around a casino boxing ring. Even without these patches applied, the release appears to function fairly well on modern Windows 10 PCs (including the Surface Pro 4 I'm relying on while I'm away from my home office).
